How much randomness can an irrational rotation exhibit? In this talk, starting with uniform distribution for any irrational rotation, we will discuss what can be said about typical discrepancy for the case of quadratic irrationals and why. We will then pass to finer limit theorems and talk about the connection to lattice point counting. Get ready for some probability, although I will try to keep it to a minimum!
