Rotating cosmic string spacetimes have some interesting features that make well-posedness of the wave equation a challenge: they  have closed timelike curves, and they are singular (along the "string" axis).  I will discuss propagation estimates for this equation and some associated results on existence of (approximately) forward solutions.  (Joint work with Katrina Morgan.)
