Note the ***LATE START*** because of the conflict with the Morse lecture. While spectral graph theory is a well established and fortuitous field, its higher dimensional analogue is still in its infancy. I will explain some approaches to the definition of a spectral theory for simplicial complexes, their applications to combinatorial questions, and examples such as random and Ramanujan complexes.
